Our Founder and Her Inspiration
Our Founder and Creative Director of Aloki Athletica Yoga and Activewear, Nadine Hoffman, has lived and breathed health, sport and fitness for over 30 years and was an expert in Postnatal Rehabilitation, Pilates Instructor, Personal Trainer, Sports Trainer/Coach and is the Founder of a National Award winning sports program for children with disabilities now in it’s fifth year on the Sunshine Coast.
In 2015 she left an unhealthy marriage, moved homes and her youngest son was diagnosed with ASD coming into prep, so she gave everything she had known to focus 100% on her children, therapy and the transitions and changes in their lives. She had time to reflect and noticed how once upon a time she had a healthy attitude to her body and fitness, but that living in an unhealthy relationship had slowly altered what were once healthy attitudes to unhealthy, even though they appeared on the surface to be healthy. She had fallen out of love with something which she had once loved because her motivation was different.
For two years, she lost he passion she once had and at 40, she took up surfing and Ashtanga Yoga, finding her love of fitness again but from a completely different space. In Nov 2017 she set out to do what she originally had wanted to do when she moved to Cairns, Queensland, 15 years ago, to create a beautiful range of activewear, have a balanced life and inspire women to love their body and to have a healthy mindset.
It was highly important for her to create yoga wear that is ethical and not made in sweat shops, so she combined her design background (being a former kitchen designer) along with 20+ years in the fitness/sport industry, to create beautiful yoga wear that reflected who she wanted all women to be and “To empower women to believe, that even after the darkness, there is light. To inspire women who have come from a similar situation to know that you can do what ever you dream of doing.”
Our kids range has also been tested on her youngest son, who has ASD and sensory issues . He loves to wear his all day, as they give him a gentle hug and are super soft but not restrictive.
Nadine lives with her two beautiful boys + her dog and designs her ethical activewear range from her studio at home on the Sunshine Coast, Australia.
